Dalai Lama Graces Masterchef
For some reason, this doesn't sit well with me.
Last night the Dalai Lama was a guest judge on Masterchef, a amateur cooking show, and I couldn't bring myself to watch it. It just seemed like such a pathetic grab at viewership and an exploit of his good reputation. I mean honestly, what value would a vegetarian who drinks yak's milk for fun add to high brow food judging?
And earlier this winter, as a publicity stunt, the Sydney Herald photoshopped that disrespectful blunder you are seeing at the top right of this article. It just makes the judges look like jerks and the poor Dalai Lama look preyed upon by the media. Leave him alone - he is a figurehead for the religion and ideals of Tibet, not a shiny little Buddha on Channel 10's bedside that they can rub for good ratings!
